2539p. (uniform) U.S. Coast Guard Blue Chief’s Petty Officer Uniform Jacket with pants c.1940’s.
2539p. (uniform) U.S. Coast Guard Blue Chief’s Petty Officer Uniform Jacket with pants c.1940’s. Chief’s uniform, although period, appears still fresh from the cleaners. The crow is in silver bullion as well as the machinist rate. On the right sleeve is the Coast Guard shield again in silver bullion. The one row ribbon bar is testament to his service to country, at least 8 years of service indicated by the 2 hash marks. The ribbons indicating service include Good Conduct, American Campaign, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign. There is a WWII Ruptured Duck” insignia below the ribbons. Manufacturer unknown but bears a “Regulation U.S. Navy Uniform” label. The pieces are not sized but jacket measures about 18 inches shoulder to shoulder, 18 inches armpit to armpit, and 24 inches shoulder to cuff. The matching pants measure 30 inches in the waist with a 33 inch inseam. Jacket is completely lined in a satin-like light navy blue material. The buttons are brass of the proper Coast Guard type (backmarked “Waterbury Button Co. Conn.”). Quite a nice example of WWII era Chief’s blue uniform. Great lot, quite rare and in excellent condition. (VG+). $225.
