Prepared as a first aid handbook for use on all merchant vessels as well as all United States Lighthouse vessels and stations. This detailed text includes instructions for use of equipment and for the treatment of all forms of injury and illness. Likely this manual would be included in medicine chests issued in the Lighthouse Service from 1929 until 1939, as well as issued to all stations. Frontis marked “Cross Over Island Light Station” where D.D. Hill was the Keeper in 1929. Crossover Island Light Station is on the St. Lawrence River in New York State in the 1000 Islands area near the Canadian border. The lighthouse was established in 1848 and the last tower was first lit in 1882. The lighthouse was deactivated in 1941 and is now privately owned. Daniel D. Hill was Keeper from 1909 until 1931. Well illustrated. Contents clean and tight, good condition. Wraps light wear and bumping. This early manual used by the Lighthouse Service is extremely rare. (VG). $294.
