21479f. [sword] U.S. Coast Guard Sword with Scabbard, Knot, Sword Belt with Buckle, Cotton Bag and Case c.1982. This is a U.S. Coast Guard dress sword complete with sword knot, sword belt with buckle, scabbard, cotton bag and case. Sword is marked “USCG” on the guard. Blade with detailed etching including “USCG” and the owner’s name “Daniel E. Fancher”. Case is lettered in white “D.E.F. USCG”. Daniel E. Fancher graduated from the Coast Guard Academy as an Ensign in 1981-1982. The entire set shows little age if any. The original “fish-skin” grip and wire are in excellent condition. The scabbard is in overall excellent condition. The bottom of the blade is marked: “Vanguard Stainless Toledo Spain.”. Included is a small brass circle marked “proved”. The pommel has an eagle with thirteen stars. The fittings appear to be cast brass with 24 carat gold plating. The sword is in as new, was used for ceremonial purposes only. The blade itself is in excellent condition. The carrying case is clean, only a few light scuff marks. Blade length 28” to guard. Belt is by Vanguard size 34, clean, supple, as new. (F-). $385.
