2726-75. (stereoview) Wreck of the Brig Poinsett, South Shore Nantucket, Sept. 1st., 1870 by J. Freeman.

2726-75. (stereoview) Wreck of the Brig Poinsett, South Shore Nantucket, Sept. 1st., 1870 by J. Freeman. Quite close, clear view shows great detail of the brig Poinsett as crews from shore offload the cargo from the vessel. As the surf pounded the vessel workers struggled to haul barrels ashore. View is of the beautiful wooden vessel well up on the beach on the south side of the island near Nobadeer Pond. About 40 casks in all were saved when the vessel broke up and became a total loss. It is extremely difficult to find views of Nantucket shipwrecks and this view is certainly one of the larger ones. Quite clear, only light soiling, wear to corners. (VG+). $68.
