6699j. (souvenir dish) c.1900. “U. S. Life Saving Station, Salisbury Beach, Mass.”

6699j. (souvenir dish) c.1900. An unusual, bold, bright cobalt blue commemorative dish featuring a beautiful full color image of the “U. S. Life Saving Station, Salisbury Beach, Mass.”. This fairly large piece has a large 2 ¼” full color image on white background of the tall Duluth-type station that was constructed in 1897. The detailed image shows the entire station, with the surfman posed on the boat-ramp in front of their surfboat. This item is quite attractive and unusual, made in a leaf shape with deep cobalt blue border and beaded, gilded trim. Dish measures about 6 ¼” and is clean, one leaf point chipped but not noticeable on the top. A very detailed, striking piece for your display. (VG+). $94 net.
