1546. (framed photo) Montauk Point Lighthouse, Long Island c.1930’s. Unusually nice photo in period decorated wood frame shows the tall lighthouse with attached keeper’s house, fog signal building and more. Montauk, the oldest lighthouse in New York State, was authorized by the Second Congress, under President George Washington in 1792. Construction began on June 7, 1796 and was completed on November 5, 1796. This historic landmark has been part of Long Island’s land and seascape for over 200 years and still serves as an active aid to navigation. Clear, close image shows great detail. Quite clear. Overall in frame measures 3” x 4”. (VG+). $36.
