Welcome to Kenrick A. Claflin & Son

Featured on our web site and in our monthly web catalogues are new and out-of-print books, documents, post cards, photographs, maps and charts, engravings, lithographs, uniforms and insignia, tools, lamps, lens apparatus, equipment and apparatus and much more relating to these heroic services.

We now issue most of our catalogues on line rather than by mail. This allows us to issue more catalogues and feature more items, with better photos and descriptions. Let us know your email address and we will email you monthly as our catalogues are posted.

12402a. (photo) Launching of U.S. Lighthouse Service Tender Walnut c.1939. Superb unusually large view, quite rare, shows great detail of the Lighthouse Tender Walnut as she is launched at Moore Dry Dock Company yards in Oakland, California. The Walnut is shown just as she is slides into the water in 1939. To her right is the ship Mericos H. Whittier crowded with onlookers. The Walnut would be assigned to the Territory of Hawaii and was designated WAGL-252 by the Coast Guard in 1942. Later she was reassigned to Miami, Florida and then San Pedro, California. She was decommissioned in 1982. Great view, b/w, 8 ½” x 13”. Includes description on back. (VG+). $78.
