Cox…on the CONFERENCE REPORT FOR THE RE-ENFORCEMENT OF THE LIFE-SAVING SERVICE BY INCREASED PAY AND STATIONS, ETC… April 27, 1882. 15pp. Given the title “Father of the Life-Saving Service”, Mr. Cox spent his thirty year career in the United States Congress attempting to upgrade the Life-Saving Service. Mr. Cox was most proud of his work in creating the Federal statute that created the Life-Saving Service and his untiring zeal in pressing for its eventual passage. This speech prays for death and disability payments to the families of members of the life-Saving Service who are lost or disabled. Includes chronicles of attempted rescues including one involving the loss of 7 life-savers off Carrituck Beach , N.C. , and the loss of 3 off Peaked Hill Bar, Cape Cod . As issued without wraps.
