1364. Harbour Lights, Point Allerton, Mass., Life Saving Station Replica Item HL-635.

1364a,b. Harbour Lights, Point Allerton, Mass., Life Saving Station Replica Item HL-635. Harbour Lights replicas are award winning hand painted and numbered lighthouse, life-saving station and lightship sculptures. These numbered limited edition resin collectibles come with a certificate of authenticity and a brief history. Included too is a gift of the “Wig Wag Man”, a figurine holding a red flag that was used for communication. Built in 1889 after a devastating series of shipwrecks, Point Allerton Life-Saving Station was one of a series of stations along the coast, a part of the effort that vastly improved life saving measures for shipwreck victims on the New England coasts. This effort was responsible for a drop of 87.5% in the number of shipwreck deaths in the area. Today the station still stands as a beautifully restored museum that holds a number of fascinating artifacts and memorabilia from the life-saving station era, and a significant part of American marine history. The item is as new, in the original box, with certificate. Figurine of man with flag is included. Sold initially for $79.95. (F). $59.95
