8176-18. COAST GUARD ENLISTED MAN’S CAP with PHOTO c.1944. Dark navy-blue enlisted man’s “duck” style cap. Around the barrel is stitched a ribbon of black silk, 1 ½” in width with the words “U. S. Coast Guard” stitched in gold. Cap is in unusually good condition, complete, with no apparent tears and clean as it has been kept protected. Tally letters clear and crisp. Size tag indicates size 7 1/8. Under the band are remnants of four tickets to World War II era New York Broadway shows. Also with the hat is a wonderful large period portrait photograph of the hats owner in uniform including this hat. Caps of this type were in white or blue, and have been most difficult to find.
