9429. [print] Ambrose Channel Relief Lightship Moments Before the Collision with the Freighter Green Bay
9429. [print] Ambrose Channel Relief Lightship Moments Before the Collision with the Freighter Green Bay . June 29th, 1960. [WAL 505] 19 ½” x 24”. Superb full color print for framing. Signed by the artist Ms. Donna Garrison, #18/2000. This wonderful large, full colored print from the Artist’s 1990 painting, depicts the bow of the S. S. Green Bay penetrating the fog just seconds before striking the Ambrose Relief Lightship on a June night in 1960. Boatswain’s Mate Bobby Pierce barely had time to sound the lightship’s general alarm when she was struck on the starboard side by the 10,270 ton freighter. Scrambling for rafts, the nine-man crew barely made it to safety before she sank, stern first. A wonderful print, on heavy stock, a MUST for your wall. Shipped rolled, a few light creases but just fine for framing. (VG+). $58.
