Loaded with hundreds of vintage photographs and illustrations, the detailed text includes: Hisorical Timeline The Revolution, Artillerists, 1812, West Point, Exploration and Survey, National Road, Lighthouses, Civil Works, Waterways, Flood control, Hydropower, DC, Coast Defense, Mexican War, Panama Canal, WWI, WWII, Korea, Manhattan Project, Vietman, Space Programs, Military Contruction, The Corps Castle and Essayons Button, Portraits and Profiles. As early as 1827, the Corps were instrumental in surveying, planning and construction of lighthouses across the country, and this involvement continued into the Twentieth Century. Includes a great photograph of Minot’s Ledge Light under construction in August of 1859.
