901s. CLIPPER SHIP STAFFORDSHIRE LEAVING BOSTON HARBOR. Gleason’s Pictorial Drawing-Room Companion. August 30, 1851. Though this is not lighthouse related, this is a most interesting early half-page cover illustration of the clipper ship Staffordshire, passing the forts of Boston Harbor. The Staffordshire was of the Liverpool Packet Line and was 228 feet long at the keel, and 440 feet overall. She boasted three decks and was more spacious than any other packet in the trade. Included is a ¼-page article describing her in some detail. A great early ship engraving. Clean save light-moderate foxing, left margin clipped but does not enter body. Quite early piece. (G+). $14.
