The author’s youthful dream to live on an isolated tropical island became a reality when he and his wife forsook their professional jobs in the city to become light keepers in the barren Torres Strait on Queensland’s Barrier Reef coast. A valuable record of the work and the life on Queensland’s light stations, further enhanced by the names of 1200 light keepers from 1857 to 1994. Very difficult to find in this country, wonderful reading, well illustrated. As new. (M). $88.
