Later published in 1865 as Chapter VII in his renown work entitled CAPE COD, this is the first printing of this work in advance of publication. Includes a rare insight into the keeper’s difficulties lighting and maintaining the early array of fifteen Argand lamps. An important early first publication of Thoreau’s sought after work. Disbound.
