Anyone who truly enjoys reading of the life of a Keeper, or the Cape Cod charm, should surely read Thoreau’s account of his visit with the Keeper of Cape Cod Light during his walk from Eastham to Provincetown in 1849 and again in 1855. Later published in 1865 as Chapter VII in his renown work entitled CAPE COD, this is the first printing of this work in advance of publication. Includes a rare insight into the keeper’s difficulties lighting and maintaining the early array of fifteen Argand lamps. An important early first publication of Thoreau’s sought after work. Disbound.
