6507p. [blanket] U. S. LIGHTHOUSE SERVICE WOOL BLANKET. c.1900.
6507p. [blanket] U. S. LIGHTHOUSE SERVICE BLANKET. c.1900. Authentic early 1900’s wool blanket bearing the bold emblem of the “United States Lighthouse Service” in the middle. This genuine U.S. Lighthouse Service issue blanket has sewn reinforced edges on all sides with a bar design along the end borders. The body of the blanket is heavy wool, light brown in color, measuring approximately 56” by 76” long. It bears the official seal of the U.S. Lighthouse Service, measuring about 8” inches in diameter. Blanket, being wool, appears in unusually good condition, no losses or fraying, just a few stitches missing from ends, a few small lightly worn spots. Such blankets were used on board lightships and tenders, as well as at many light stations. Condition is remarkably good for its age. A very, very scarce lighthouse relic. (VG+). $1295.
