This NASA badge allowed bearer into the viewing area for the first landing of the Space Shuttle STS-1 in April of 1981 when Space Shuttle Columbia touched down at NASA’s Dryden Flight Research Center (now Armstrong Flight Research Center) at Edwards Air Force Base, California. This marked the conclusion of STS‑1, the maiden orbital flight of the Space Shuttle program. Crew was Commander John W. Young (5th spaceflight) and Pilot Robert L. Crippen (1st spaceflight). They orbited the earth 36 orbits and lasted 2 days 6 hours 20 minutes 53 seconds. The badge was issued to Terry Bell a California accountant and came through his family. Very good condition, light age toning. Complete with spring clip. (VG+). $45.
