35034. (glass projection slide) Monomoy Point [Cape Cod} Lighthouse, Chatham, Mass. c.1900

  1. (glass projection slide) Monomoy Point [Cape Cod} Lighthouse, Chatham, Mass. c.1900. A.D. Handy Co., Boston, Mass. Rare vintage 3 ¼” x 4” inch glass projection slide provides a very rate colored view of the 1849 red iron tower and the upper story of the later keeper’s dwelling located at Monomoy Point in Chatham on Cape Cod. The first (light station) lighthouse was built here in 1823. The one shown here was built in 1849 by Cyrun Alger & Co. Originally built in response to Federal period growth in coastal traffic. The Monomoy Point Light Station is an early example of a cast-iron fixed coastal light. In pencil on label “Chatham Light”. Beautiful clear colored view with good detail, clean, with original labels. Would project well or can be scanned and printed. Images of this light are exceptionally rare even today. (VG+). $56.
