33147. (chart) Seguin Island to Kennebunkport, Maine #107. USGS Edition of 1878.

33147. (chart) Seguin Island to Kennebunkport, Maine #107. United States Coast and Geodetic Survey. Edition of 1878. Printed March 1890. Scale 1” = 1 1/8” nautical mile [1/80,000]. Intact very large detailed original Coast Survey chart includes all of the coastline from Cape Small south including Portland, Cape Elizabeth, Biddeford, Wood Island, Goat Island, and Kennebunkport. Chart includes all Life-Saving stations in service at the time. Also shown are all lighthouses, buoys, towns and features and more. The area has numerous shoals and bars, hundreds of islands, and the entire area is exceedingly treacherous. Included on the chart are bearings, tides and currents for the area, and soundings, and more. Chart is in good condition, overall clean, light even age toning, light edge wear and soiling, few very small edge tears. Buoys are highlighted in red. Rare early chart. These very early coastal maps are most desirable for display and bring a premium. Wonderful for matting and framing. (VG+).  $34.
