3054. (aerial photo) Block Island Sandy Point North Lighthouse c.1972. Lovely b/w aerial photo looking south across the island from Sandy Point at the north. This is an original b/w print taken as part of coastal studies being done along the New England coast back in the 70’s. In the foreground can be seen the “North Light”. The first light on the site was built in 1829. The current structure at Sandy Point is the fourth lighthouse built on the site and was made of granite and iron in 1867. At one time one of Block Island’s three life-saving stations was in this area as well. Photo measures about 9″ x 9″ and is in very good condition with crisp edges and corner tips. The photo image is sharp throughout, completely in focus. Marked image No. 127 and dated 8/11/1972. A striking view, would look lovely matted and framed. (VG+). $36.
