2539t. (Peacoat) U.S. Coast Guard Peacoat c.1950 – 1970’s. Manufactured by Pembroke, Inc. Size noted is 38 Reg. A Pea Coat was for use enlisted ranks on vessels and at shore stations. Coat is 6-button double-breasted, made of 100% wool fabric in Coast Guard dark navy blue with black phenolic anchor buttons. Coat has broad lapels, double-breasted fronts, and vertical or slash pockets. Two inside chest pockets. With white embroidered Coast Guard shield right sleeve. The U.S. Navy adopted Pea Coats as early as 1881, becoming standard fare in the 20th century for both Navy and Coast Guard. Coat is in excellent condition, quite clean, no mothing, lining nicely intact. Difficult to find these early WWII+  coats. Named to Wehrly M.P. 403 331. (F-). $124.
