A detailed report from Fifth Auditor Stephen Pleasonton providing annual returns from the keepers and District Superintendents. Extremely detailed and useful report provides information for every lighthouse and beacon in the country. Details include no. of lamps lit, no. of lamps not used, gallons of oil on hand for each season, remarks on quality of oil, condition of apparatus, etc., tube-glasses, wicks and buff-skins received, on hand and broken during the year, and more. In addition lists light name, where located, latitude and longitude, number of lamps, size of reflector, fixed or revolving, time of revolution, distance visible, height above sea, year built, and additional remarks on the type of structure, etc. A very complete, worthwhile early reference. This is the first time that we have had this. Disbound, clean, intact, occasional light foxing. (VG). $168.
