From an early Coast Survey, clean, detailed b/w plate combines three early coastal maps of the Chatham and Monomoy areas to compare change and movement of the shoreline over the years. Views include: Comparitive Map of Monomoy from the Coast Survey of 1853 and 1868, Locus of Movement of Monomoy Point, Chatham [from] U.S. Coast Survey Dec. 1872, Chatham and Old Stage Harbor (includes islands, bars, ponds, lighthouse site) December 1872, Capt. Champlain’s Map of Chatham 1606. Views show the shoreline of the area including inlets and dunes, and Chatham and Monomoy lighthouse sites. Clean, crisp, one light original fold with some toning. Quite scarce and desirable, good for framing or for illustration. (VG+). $86.
