3015. Ryder, John J. and Robert E. Bisbee. Reminiscences of Three Years’ Service in the Civil War – By a Cape Cod Boy. Reynolds 1928. (Literary Licensing, LLC (October 13, 2012). 86p. Soft wraps. Ryder served in the 33rd Mass Inf, Co. I. He was a 20 year old farmer when he enlisted in July, 1862. He was listed as wounded at Kennesaw Mountain in June 1864. The 33rd first served with the Army of the Potomac through Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. It then transferred West where it served under Sherman for the rest of the War. Ryder remained in service throughout the War and mustered out in June 1865. In 1868 Ryder was appointed Assistant Keeper at Nauset Lights in Eastham on Cape Cod, at a salary of $400 per year. He remained there for two winters and one summer. Detailed reminiscences, rare account. (M). $26.
