US Coast Guard Bicentennial Publication,” As published without DJ.  A most important, detailed history of the United States Revenue Cutter Service during the five years of the Civil War. Contains extensive details of vessels and commanders, crews, the operation and organization of the service, battles losses and much more. President Lincoln noted the contribution of the Revenue Cutter Service to the war effort in 1863 when he penned: “Nor must Uncle Sam’s Web-feet be forgotten. At all watery margins they have been present. Not only on the deep sea, the broad bay and the rapid river, but also up the narrow, muddy bayou, and wherever the ground was a little damp, they made their tracks.” An extremely difficult to find text on the subject.
