2083b. (souvenir trivet) Cahoon Hollow Life Saving Station Wellfleet, Mass. c.1900. A rare, bright, flower decorated rose and crème colored commemorative trivet featuring a beautiful clear, detailed color image of the Cahoon Hollow Life Saving Station in Wellfleet on Cape Cod. This striking piece measures a full 6 3/8” in diameter and is enhanced by a beautiful rose decorative rim. The unusually detailed image includes all aspects of the Quonochontaug-type life-saving station at Cahoons Hollow, now the Beachcomber Restaurant. Nice detailed image on the bright china piece and rose coloration make a good contrast on this rare item. Marked “Altenburg China Made in Germany for Geo. P. Baker, Wellfleet, Mass ”. Geo.F. Baker was a sea captain from Wellfleet 1836 – 1872 and then owned a building supply/lumber store in Wellfleet. No chips or cracks but some wear to image and decoration. Still a beautiful display piece. Unusually large, bold view of this little-known Cape Cod life-saving station. (VG). $148.
