22272. [slipcase] Snow, Edward Rowe. NEW ENGLAND COASTAL HERITAGE – The Drama of New England in Charts, Maps and Memorabilia. Boston. c.1950-60’s Scarce set in slipcase published by Mr. Snow contains one of his short New England monographs New England Coastal Heritage. The case label is Autographed by the author. Box is signed, is of a special autographed edition, containing an insert of pasted in fragments of wood from four famous vessels including the ill-fated steamer Titanic, the Andrea Doria, America, and the Frigate Constitution. This One of Snow’s scarcer editions. Case is just packed with a number of his maps published for inclusion into his earlier books. Maps included here are Map of Casco Bay, Map of Romantic Boston Bay and Cape Cod, Map of United States Coast Guard Boston District from Famous Lighthouses of New England, Map of Fort Warren, Map of Boston Harbor and Massachusetts Bay, Plan of Town of Marblehead [1830], Map of Lynn and Saugus [1829], Map of Gloucester [1883], Plan of Cohasset [1831], Plan of the Town of Boston, Map of New England [1675], Map of Marshfield and Hanover [1838], Map of Scituate [1831], and large plate of ship rigging types. Box cover bears a portion of the Map of the Isles of Shoals, with printed label attached. Entire lot is in good condition, overall clean and crisp save some glue remains to label on box cover. This is an extremely rare lot published in the earlier years of Mr. Snow’s career. (VG+). $244 net.
