13179. (photo) Captain Nelson & Mrs. Burnett, Southampton Life-Saving Station, Long Island c.1912. Nice clear view of the unusual entrance to the 1876-Type Southampton Life-Saving Station on Long Island. The station was a mix of styles and probably the only one with an entrance porch of this type. Designed about 1910, it was an 1876-Type station with an 1882-Type tower and inset porch. This photo was taken shortly after the station was built. Rare view of Keeper Burnett with wife, and labeled on back with name and year 1912. Included with this photo are three other views of area home and children, including a wonderful image of a child’s fire engine pedal car. View measures 3 1/2” x 4 ½” and is dated 1912. Clean, clear view. (VG+). $68.
