1349. (photo) Cape Cod Steamship S.S. Dorothy Bradford c. 1915. Close early photo provides good view of the S.S. Dorothy Bradford as she enters Provincetown harbor. The Dorothy Bradford, formerly the S.S. Charlotte, was built by Neafie & Levy of Philadelphia, PA for the Cape Cod Steamship Co. of Boston, MA. She was propelled by a three cylinder triple expansion steam engine powered by 2 single ended Scotch boilers working at 150 PSI. Her maiden voyage was in 1910, sailing between Boston and Provincetown. She remained in operation through the late 1930’s (round trip fare in 1931 was $2.00). She was broken up in 1937 following the financial demise of her company. Photo measures 2 ¾” x 5”. One spot. (VG). $12.
