1877. (photo) Aerial Photo Nauset / Coast Guard Beach in Eastham Massachusetts Cape Cod c.1972. Original glossy 1972 aerial photograph of Nauset /Coast Guard Beach, Eastham, Massachusetts looking south from the Coast Guard station parking lot entrance. This photo measures about 9″ x 9″ and is in good condition with only light edge wear. This photo image is crisp, completely in focus from edge to edge. This aerial photograph provides wonderful view of Nauset Beach shortly before the great storm of 1978 washed out the entire parking lot, including the restroom structures, into the sea. Great detail includes the many camps along the beach to the south including Henry Beston’s cottage “The Fo’Castle”. Henry Beston spent a year in this cottage in the 1920’s, writing of life and nature on the outer beach. His book, The Outermost House, was published in 1929 and has become a classic in modern literature. After the 1978 storm, the roadway leading to the station had to be moved west to re-connect with the station. Superb image, great for framing. Dated August 2, 1972. (VG+). $44.
