12508b. (mounted photo) Keeper Stephen Snow Lewis, Nauset Beach “Three Sisters” Lighthouses, Eastham, Mass. c.1892-1895. This rare item features a close photograph of Keeper Lewis with his black Newfoundland dog Nero, standing in the doorway of the center beacon of the three short white light towers known as the “Three Sisters”. Keeper Lewis served at Nauset Lights from 1883 until 1914. These second lights with wood towers were constructed in 1892, and storm porches, not seen here, were constructed in 1895, thus the photo can be dated to the period 1892-1895. Photo remains clear and sharp but has sustained some foxing over the years. Measurements 4 ¼” x 5 ¼” overall. One of the few such items showing this keeper at this remote Cape Cod light station and most desirable. Some wear, foxing, light water stain to mount. Extremely rare keeper view. (VG-). $215.
