12261. Morris, Paul C. A Captain from Cape Cod – The Merchant Fleets of Crowell & Thurlow. 2002. Orleans. 192 p., DJ. 150 illus. quarto. Autographed by the author. A pictorial history of the merchant fleets of Crowell and Thurlow – schooners and steamers owned by Capt. Peter H. Crowell of Dennis Cape Cod. Crowell rose from relative obscurity to a position of respect and wealth through his devotion to hard work and love of the sea and the vessels that sailed upon it. His enterprise led to a vast fleet of vessels and a company of great size from the turn of the century to the time of the first World War. He was truly an American Icon. Thoroughly illustrated with vintage photographs, great reading and reference. Out of print – difficult to find. Clean, crisp, as new. (F-). $46
