1301. Lot of 11 Antique Identified Demitasse Spoons c.1900.

1301. Lot of 11 Antique Identified Demitasse Spoons c.1900. Makers: Rogers, Benedict, Aurora, R&B, and others. This is a lot of 11 antique silver plated flatware demitasse spoons. They range in dates from 1892 to 1909 and all measure about the same size, 4¼” to 4⅜” long. There are no monograms on any of the spoons. The last demitasse spoon in the photo is actually a souvenir spoon, featuring an image of the Central Armory in Cleveland, Ohio. All spoons are very shiny, clean and in wonderful condition. Priced at $4.50 each or $40 for all eleven spoons.

1. Spoon has a large raised petalled flower at the end of the handle and is signed SILVERPLATE on the underside. I cannot find an exact match for this spoon in my silver sources, but it very much resembles WM ROGERS 1909 BEAUTY pattern.

2. Spoon has a pointed petalled flower at the end of the handle and a texturized surface on the back. It simply has a K on the back with a circle around it. This is another spoon that I cannot find an exact match for in my silver sources, but it very much resembles R.C. & Co 1908 LILY pattern.

3. Spoon with a sort of “tail” at the end and a little raised flower in the tail. The pattern name is DEWITT. It was manufactured by BENEDICT MANUFACTURING COMPANY and it dates back to 1901.

4. Spoon has a very Victorian, sort of paisley pattern on the handle with lots of ART NOUOVEAU curli-cues, scrolls, and swirls. However, there’s no back stamp. The spoon closely resembles AURORA 1894 RIALTO pattern.

5. Spoon has lovely ART NOUVEAU swirls and curls up and down the entire border. The pattern name is VERNON. It was manufactured by R. J. MANUFACTURING COMPANY and it dates back to 1900.

6. ART NOUVEAU Victorian spoon with swirls and curls and a sort of bulbous shape at the end. The pattern name is MELROSE. It was manufactured by WM ROGERS and it dates back to 1898.

7 & 8. Pair of matching demitasse spoons in the popular MARQUISE pattern. The spoons were manufactured by R & B and they date back to 1900.

9. Here’s another decorative demitasse spoon, but without a back stamp. It features two lovely raised petaled flowers in the handle. This is another spoon for which I cannot find an exact match in my silverware sources, but it closely resembles AURORA 1900 PARAGON pattern.

10. This is the oldest spoon in the lot. The pattern name is CORAL. It was manufactured by ROGER SMITH & CO and it dates back to 1892. The back of the spoon has an image of a crab.

11. This is actually a collectible souvenir demitasse spoon, featuring an image of the Cleveland Central Armory in Cleveland, Ohio. It was manufactured by N. T. SILVER COMPANY (NIAGARA ONEIDA) and says CLEVELAND VIADUCT down the front of the handle. The spoon is beautifully decorated with lots of etched designs
