The City Point Life Saving / Coast Guard Station was one of only two such floating stations in the United States . Anchored in Dorchester Bay , she was designed to render assistance in the numerous casualties occurring to yachts and sailboats in that area. She was equipped with a gasoline launch, the Relief, probably the first station in the country to have a power boat. She was constructed in Greenport, Long Island in 1895 and this rare image shows her at anchor, and with her crew and flags flying, probably for a holiday. Clear, close image. (VG+). $29.95 each.
