Clear, close original 7” x 9” press photo shows great detail of a “seagoing robot” being tested in San Francisco by the Coast Guard as a possible means of facilitating rescues from stranded ships. It was hoped that the robot could carry lines to vessels beyond the reach of the Lyle gun. Photo is b/w and includes date and credit line or description on back. Dated May 6, 1939. Good detail.
