8169f. Beach , John W., THE CAPE HENLOPEN LIGHTHOUSE. Dover , DE., 1971. 2nd. 92p. DJ. With over 65 vintage photos and illustrations. A well done chronicle of the lighthouse which was built on Cape Henlopen, Delaware in 1765 and fell from its precarious position, atop a shifting sand hill, and into the encroaching sea in 1926. Credited with being the second oldest permanent navigational aid in the United States , Cape Henlopen Lighthouse is well detailed in a great many wonderful vintage photos, and in descriptive text. Also laid in are an original c.1910 snapshot of the light and keeper’s dwelling and two newspaper articles from 1971 detailing the light’s destruction. Nicely done and most difficult to find. Clean, tight, a few spots to dj. (VG+). $74.
