2770. A Circular Steel Light Tower at Sturgeon Bay Canal. Engineering News and American Railway Journal. November 9, 1899. One third page article details the new type of lighthouse structure favored by the Light-House Board recently constructed at Sturgeon Bay on Lake Michigan. Article includes good detail of the design and construction of the iron light tower and lantern and includes a large 2-page supplement with photos and sectional views of the lantern and tower, stairway, foundation and more. The supplement measures 20 1/2″ by 14 1/4″ and is blank on the back. It has one fold in the center where it was folded to fit into the publication. The remaining journal is chock full of interesting articles including: The Heaviest Passenger Locomotive Ever Built (for the Lakeshore and Michigan Southern Railway), Early Railway Construction in the United States, Large Atlantic Cargo Steamers, A Centrifugal Railway for Pleasure Resorts, a couple articles on railroad signaling and more.
