8109o4. [flag] U. S. Coast Guard Ensign c.1966-. Official U. S. Coast Guard Ensign size #4 (28”h x 50”w) from the Medium Endurance Cutter Active, out of Port Angeles, Washington. Marked on hem “USCG Ensign Size No. 4”. Ensign manufactured for Coast Guard use and is made of 100% nylon bunting. Pattern is of the later design consisting of vertical red/white stripes, with Coast Guard shield on crossed anchors overlaying on the right portion, without the words “Semper Paratus” [1966-present]. Top left corner is white with U. S. eagle and shield with bunched stars above. Manufactured by the Dettra Company. The current U. S. Coast Guard Cutter Active was launched at Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin on July 31, 1965 and commissioned as a Coast Guard Cutter on September 1, 1966. The Active is 210 feet long, has a 34 foot beam, displaces 1000 tons, and draws 10 feet of water. At top speed of 15 knots, Active has an approximate cruising range of 5,000 miles. USCGC Active has received several awards in recent years for its outstanding service to the maritime community, including oil spill clean ups in Prince William Sound, Alaska during the EXXON VALDEZ oil spill. She is still in service. Ensign is clean and bright, but is frayed on the end from use. Wonderful for your display and quite difficult to get these original ensigns. (VG). $118 net.
