Early large plate from early report showing contracts made in the Treasury Department in the years 1815-1816 including those for light-houses, beacon boats (lightships), keeper’s dwellings, buoys, stakeages, etc. Includes dates, location and work performed, contractor, price, etc. Includes sum of $815 for E. M. Hinckley to take down and rebuild the dwelling-house of the keeper of Nantucket Light-house (Great Point). Additional lighthouses with work indicated include New Point Comfort (VA), Portsmouth (NH), Cape Henlopen, Reedy Island, Bald Head (NC), Point Judith (RI), Baker’s Island, and more. Also includes contracts for oil. Unusually clean and crisp for a near 200-year old document, light overall toning, wonderful for framing. (VG). $85.
