2445c. United States Life-Saving Service. Lyle Bronze Line Gun “C”. #499 1900 HBD A.O.CO. with quoin and firing mechanism and elevation level (folding octant). Scarce, original bronze United States Life-Saving Service Lyle Gun complete with Carriage, Quoin (Elevation Block), and firing mechanism. Muzzle embossed: “A.A.CO. No 499 1900 H.B.D. Trunion is embossed: “U. S. L. S. S.”. Carriage branded “U.S.C.G.” Original Lyle Bronze Gun “C” Life-Saving Service line cannon was cast for the Life-Saving Service at the in 1900. Barrel measures 24 ¼” overall with a 2 ½” bore. Carriage is constructed with wooden cheeks, bound with iron and with four original iron handles and mounting hardware. Carriage measures 30 ¼” overall in length, 10” wide and 9½” high.” Condition is very good and will be quite striking when polished in your collection. Barrel is in very good condition, and includes firing mechanism. Carriage nicely finished with stain on wood surfaces, iron with black paint. Also includes original quoin (Elevation Block) and folding octant (elevation level). . Wonderful patina, needs only cleaning, polish, light touch-up. This is an exceptionally rare chance to obtain this excellent set. (VG+). $11,800.
